Jean Elsen sale 135, lot 1194

This specimen was lot 1194 in Jean Elsen sale 135 (Brussels, December 2017), where it sold for €80 (about US$111 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BELGIQUE, Royaume, Albert Ier (1909-1934), Cupro-nickel 10 centiemen, 1931NL. Etoile sur deux pointes. Rare. Très Beau. (kingdom of Belgium, Albert I, 1909-34, copper-nickel ten centimes of 1900, Dutch legends, star over two dots. Rare, very fine.)"

This type is listed in the SCWC for 1930-31 and the 1931 is shown as rare therein. A similar ten centimes with French legends (KM 95.1) also exists.

Recorded mintage: 5,000,000.

Specification: 4 g, nickel brass, 22 mm diameter.
