Bavaria 1646 ducat Fr-195
This specimen was lot 30054 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $4,993.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Bavaria. Maximilian I gold Ducat 1646, MS61 NGC. An attractive example and a scarcer date within the type, this coin has an appealing depiction of Maximilian kneeling before Madonna and child on the obverse. Rather attractive for the grade level, with a near complete strike and surfaces that retain the appearance of a finer grade." This type was struck 1642-47 and tho not cheap, is more available than other Bavarian ducats of the seventeenth century. A double ducat (Fr-194) is also noted.
