Baroda VS 1995 mohur
This specimen was lot 1141 in CNG sale Triton XXVII (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $6,737.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA, Princely States. Baroda. Pratap Singh. VS 1995-2008 / AD 1938-1951. Restrike AV Mohur. Coronation issue. Baroda mint. Dated VS 1995 (AD 1938). Bust right, wearing royal headdress with ornaments; śrīmat pratap singh maharaja gaikwar (Highness Pratap Singh Mahaaaja Gaikwar) in Nagari around / Baroda/1 Mohur in Nagari; below, scimitar left and 1995 in Nagari; all within wreath. Lightly toned, proof like fields, light marks and hints of die rust, edge marks. EF." The SCWC consigns this to the Unusual World Coins; it is not the right weight for a mohur and its commemorative nature suggests that it was intended to be a medal. A one-third mohur (Fr-1042) also exists.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 6.2-6.4 g, gold, this specimen 21 mm diameter, 6.32 g, 12 h axis.
