This specimen was lot 554 in Ponterio & Associates' sale 149 (Chicago, April 2009), where it sold for $529. The catalog description noted, "GUATEMALA. Banco de Guatemala. 1 Peso, 24.9.1896. P-S149. FINE." It is noted in the upper margin, "LA SUCURSAL QUETZALTENANGO," i.e., "Payable at our branch in Quetzaltenango." Such notes are much scarcer than the regular issue.
