This specimen was issued by Bangladesh as part of the F.A.O. series. The Bangladeshi government became an enthusiastic supporter of the F.A.O. program and issued many F.A.O. coins in the 1970's. This type was struck 1977-81 and 1994. This denomination was not issued thereafter, the lowest denomination being the fifty poisha, last issued in 2001. In 1981, US$1 = 19.3 taka.
