Austria 1973 10 groschen rev DSLR.jpg

This type was struck 1951-2001 and has little collector value except for some of the early proofs. Austria began minting euros in 2002, rendering this coin obsolete. The old Hapsburg eagle clasped an orb and scepter, symbols of imperial power; the republican eagle holds a hammer and sickle, symbols of the hard work needed to rebuild from the disaster of World War Two.

Recorded mintage: 60,244,000 plus 97,000 proofs.

Specifications: 1.1 g, aluminum, 20 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 2878.
