This specimen was lot 70241 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $552. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. Sovereign, 1872-S. Sydney Mint. Victoria. PCGS AU-58 Gold Shield. Presenting a die crack in front of the date and a some light rub, this example otherwise offers a charming appearance and emanates from the second year of issue."
