This specimen was lot 705 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $1,320. The catalog description[1] noted, "ASSAM: Gaurinatha Simha, 1780-1796, AV 1/4 mohar, SE1717 year 16, legends sri sri gaurinatha simha nripasya // sake 1717, date unpublished by Rhodes & Bose; mount removed (visible only on the edge, no damage to the surfaces), bold strike, nearly XF, RRR." The SCWC lists KM 227 for years 2, 5, 6, 10, 11 and 15 but not 16. Elsewhere on this site we show a year 8, also unlisted. Saka Era (SE) dates are 78 years earlier than current year dates in Western countries.
