Assam SE 1692 rupee KM-181
This specimen was lot 2232 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "ASSAM: Lakshmi Simha, 1769-1780, AR rupee, SE1692, one-year type, with the reverse legend hari hara..., VF-XF, ex Nicholas Rhodes Collection." This type was struck SE 1692 only along with KM 182 (reverse legend "Hari Gauri..."). The Ahom script was used up through the reign of Gadadhara Simha, after which Sanskrit was used for most issues. Saka Era (SE) dates are 78 years earlier than current year dates in Western countries. Shown is a rupee From Lakshmi Simha with inscription in Sanskrit.
