This specimen was lot 6360 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "ARGENTINA. 50 Centavos, 1883. PCGS AU-58. A well struck example with molten gray surfaces and speckled toning throughout." This specimen is one of a type struck 1881-83 for Argentina, most likely at the Paris mint. The type is common. It is accompanied by a silver ten centavos, twenty centavos and peso. When production of the fifty centavos resumed in 1941, it was as a nickel coin, though Oudiné's Libertad was retained.
