This specimen was lot 2220 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "ARAKAN: Abhaya, 1764-1773, AR tanka, BE1126, boldly struck with clear date on both sides, lightly cleaned, Choice VF." The kingdom of Arakan formed on the coast of Burma facing the Bay of Bengal. A local dynasty ruled 1430-1638. The area fell under Mughal influence until 1784, when it was conquered by the Konbaungs of Burma. The coins are dated using the Chulasakarat calendar and normally appear dated the coronation year.
