Künker Auction 425, lot 1824

This specimen was lot 1824 in Künker Auction 425 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €12,000 (about US$16,992 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"MÜNZEN UND MEDAILLEN AUS ÜBERSEE · VIETNAM, ANNAM Minh Mang, 1820-1841. 7 Tien (Piaster) Jahr 14 (1833). Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. Exemplar der Auktion UBS 84, Basel 2010, Nr. 2801. (Vietnam, empire of Annam, Minh Mang, 1820-4, 7 tien of year 14 (1833). Scarce in this quality, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

Annam is today the central part of Vietnam. This rare type was also struck years 15 and 16. Most are undated. It was probably intended to pass for a Spanish milled dollar.
