This specimen was lot 1666 in Stephen Album sale 41 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2021), where it sold for $600. The catalog description[1] noted, "ANGOLA: People's Republic, 50 kwanzas, 1992, copper-clad steel commemorative issue for the 15th Anniversary of the Angolan Kwanza Currency, a very rare modern issue, light surface hairlines, Unc, RR." After a protracted struggle, Angola obtained its independence in 1975 and then dissolved into civil war as various factions contended for control.
