This specimen was lot 2316 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 4,500 CHF (about US$6,783 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ALDERNEY, Elizabeth II. 1952-2022. Gold 2 Pounds 1989, London Auf den Besuch der Königin Elizabeth am 24. Mai, on the visit by queen Elizabeth II on May 24. Sehr selten. Nur 100 Exemplare geprägt. Polierte Platte. Very rare. Only 100 specimens struck, Choice Proof."
The Alderney pound is pegged to the British pound but is used only for striking and selling NCLT's such as this one, honoring a royal visit.
Recorded mintage: unknown in copper-nickel plus 5,000 in silver plus 500 silver piedforts plus 100 in gold.
Specification: 28.28 g, copper-nickel, 38.5 mm diameter, or 0.925 fine silver, or silver piedfort (56.56 g), or or 47.54 g, 0.917 fine gold; this specimen gold, 47.63 g.
