Sincona sale 63, lot 77

This specimen was lot 77 in Sincona sale 63 (Zürich, June 2020), where it sold for 500 CHF (about US$627 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted, "Albanien, Republik, seit 1946. 200 Leke 2001. 500 Jahre Michelangelos David. Auflage nur 1'000 Exemplare. Polierte Platte. (republic of Albania, since 1946, 200 leke of 2001, 500th anniversary of Michelangelo's David. Only 1'000 pieces struck, Choice Proof.)" This NCLT was accompanied by KM 82 (silver 100 lekë) and KM 81 (copper-nickel 50 lekë). The statue is, of course, not in Albania but in Florence, Italy.

Recorded mintage: 1,000.

Specification: 7.65 g, 0.900 fine gold, 25.45 mm diameter; this specimen 7.64 g.
