Steve Album sale 55, lot 2121

This specimen was lot 2121 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $240. The catalog description^[1] noted, "TIMURID: Shahrukh, 1405-1447, AR tanka, Balkh, AH828, rare mint for Shahrukh, VF." Album notes that this type was struck at Tabriz, Herat, Kashan, Nimruz, Qazwin and Sultaniya, as well as Balkh. Nimruz is now in north central Afghanistan which is where we will file this. Timur's empire stretched from Syria to Delhi but the area ruled by Shahrukh was much smaller. The Timurids lost Iran entirely after his death.
