Stephen Album sale 50, lot 1453

This specimen was lot 1453 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $2,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "AFGHANISTAN: Habibullah, 1901-1919, AV tilla, NM (struck at Kabul), AH1335, king's name plus his title siraj al-milla wa'l-din in wreath, date below // mosque within rayed octagon, 6-point star below, UNC, R, ex Hakim Hamidi Collection." Milled coinage was introduced to Afghanistan during the reign of Abdur Rahman (1880-1901). This type was struck AH 1335-1337 only.
