Steve Album sale 16, lot 1383

This specimen was lot 1383 in Steve Album sale 16 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2013), where it sold for $1,298. The catalog description^[1] noted, "INDONESIA: 1000 rupiah, 1995, unlisted in KM in Proof condition, Proof, RR. The only other examples known to us are a set of the five proof coins, same as those represented here, sold as a lot in our Auction 14, September 2012, lot 1409." The catalog value for this type, listed for 1993-2000, is under five dollars. The palm tree featured here is presumably the oil palm, a major crop.

Recorded mintage: 19,900,000.

Specification: bimetallic with a brass insert and a copper-nickel outer ring.
