COL 1963 5centavos-detail.jpg

This five centavos was struck in Bogotá, Colombia, of a type issued 1942-46 and 1952-66. This type overlaps the earlier copper-nickel liberty head type issued 1918-50. The earlier dates were struck at the Philadelphia mint, the later ones in Bogotá, leading to a flurry of repunched date varieties. The examples shown has multiple repunching of the date with possible number inversion, and also a strong doubling of the obverse die.

Recorded mintage: 15,113,000.

Specification: copper, 21 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 206.
