This type, issued from 1991-2006 in various subtypes, was replaced by an aluminum centimo starting in 2007. In 1991, the currency was reformed, one nuevo sol = one million intis. Surprisingly enough, the nuevo sol has remained stable against the dollar (US$1 = S/. 2.77, October 2013).

Recorded mintage: 6,000,000.

Specification: 1.88 g, brass, 15.9 mm diameter.
