Ponterio sale 168, lot 50090

This specimen was lot 50090 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $523. The catalog description[1] noted, "FINLAND. 20 Markkaa, 1911-L. NGC MS-64." This type was struck 1879-80, 1891, 1903-04, 1910-13 to the standard of the French twenty francs. Finland obtained her independence from Russia in 1917-18.

Recorded mintage: 161,000.

Specification: 6.45 g, .900 fine gold, 21.3 mm diameter.
