Steve Album sale 39, lot 3351

This specimen was lot 3351 in Stephen Album sale 39 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $66. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN: Muhammad Reza Shah, 1941-1979, 5 rials, SH1333, a superb example for this short lived type! PCGS graded MS65." This type was struck SH 1331-1336 (1952-57) and is common. The previous type (KM 1145) was silver.

Recorded Mintage: 6,582,000.

Specification: 6.70 g, copper-nickel, 26 mm diameter.
