Stack's Bowers May 2025 Collectors Choice Online Auction, lot 75695

This specimen was lot 75695 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $240. The catalog description^[1] noted, "SCOTLAND. Lothian, Edinburgh. Farthing Token, ND (ca. 1790). PCGS AU-50 Brown. Struck over a French Guiana (Colony of Cayenne) 2 Sous. From the Sydney F. Martin Collection." The crude strike, simple design and use of an existing coin as an undertype suggests that this token was locally made rather than ordered from the big producers in Birmingham.
