Sincona sale 33, lot 2901

This specimen was lot 2901 in Sincona sale 33 (Zürich, October 2016), where it sold for 150 CHF (about US$175 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALIA | Sardinia - House of Savoy. Carlo Alberto, 1831-1849 Lira 1838. Torino. Molto rara. MB/BB. (kingdom of Sardinia, Charles Albert, 1831-49, lira of 1838, Turin mint. Very rare, fine to very fine.)"

This type was struck 1831-49 at Turin (shown here) and Genoa and is rather scarce considering its many years of production.

Recorded mintage: 11,478.

Specification: 5 g, 0.900 fine silver, this specimen 4.87 g.
