This specimen was lot 3639 in Sincona sale 43 (Zürich, October 2017), where it sold for 425 CHF (about US$507 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"MONACO, Charles III. 1856-1889 20 Francs 1878 A. Paris. Vorzüglich. (principality of Monaco, Charles III, 1856-89, twenty francs of 1878, Paris mint. Extremely fine.)"
This date is the more available of a type struck in Paris 1878-79, allegedly for use in the prince's newly opened casino in Monte Carlo. The coin matches the specification of the contemporary French twenty francs.
Recorded mintage: 25,000.
Specification: 6.45 g, 0.900 fine gold, 0.186 troy oz AGW, this specimen 6.45 g.
