Italy 1911-R 10 centesimi
This specimen was lot 583 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $205.70. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY, Regno d'Italia. Vittorio Emanuele III. 1900-1946. Æ 10 Centesimi. Rome mint. Dated 1911 R. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 65 BN. Choice brown overall with hints of red coming through. None graded higher. Very scarce in this grade. Purchased from Harlan White." This ten centesimi, struck on the fiftieth anniversary of the reunification of Italy, is the last issue of this size. Ten centesimi of 1919 and later were only 5.34 g.
