This specimen was lot 74406 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "BULGARIA. 10 Leva, 1930. Vienna Mint. Boris III. NGC MS-63." Numista states this one year type was made at Vienna and Stuttgart. The design honors Krum the Fearsome, khan of Bulgaria 803-814, and was also used on the five leva. In 1930, Bulgaria, shorn of territory by the treaty of Versailles, was riven by struggles between the communists and the military establishment. The king, Boris III, chose the Axis side during World War Two and was deposed by the Communists in 1943 as the Soviet army approached.

Recorded mintage: 15,001,000.

Specification: 10.9 g, copper-nickel, 30 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by Ivan Lazarov.

Catalog reference: KM-40.
