This fifty cents was struck in France for Monaco 2001-04. Monaco is not a full member of the euro but France is permitted to strike token amounts of coinage on Monaco's behalf. A similar arrangement obtains for other microstates such as Andorra, San Marino and Vatican City. Nearly all end up in collector sets.

Recorded mintage: 404,016.

Specifications: 7.8 g, aluminum bronze, 24.25 mm diameter, indented edge.
