Scotland 1557 plack
This specimen was lot 2289 in Goldberg sale 115 (Los Angeles, February 2020), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "Scotland. Plack, 1557. Mary, 1542-1567. Crowned shield dividing M R. Reverse; Ornate cross with plain cross in center and crowns in angles. Some weakness in legend. Very Fine." The plack was four Scottish pence. It likely originally imitated plaques of the Low Countries.
