Germany 1970F 2 pfennig rev DSLR.jpg

This type was struck for circulation in 1968-96. It was preceded by a bronze type (KM 106) struck 1950 and 1958-68. This is a product of the Stuttgart mint and this is a common date. After unification in 1989-90, Berlin began striking this type as well. The issues of 1997-2001 were for collector sets only. To this writer's knowledge, Germany is the only country in Europe still operating branch mints: A - Berlin; D - Munich; F - Stuttgart; G - Karlsruhe and J - Hamburg.

Recorded mintage: 73,851,000 plus 5,140 proofs.

Specification: 2.9 g, copper-plated steel, 19.25 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 106a.
