Alsace 1623 thaler Dav-3345
This specimen was lot 1715 in Jean Elsen sale 117 (Brussels, June 2013), where it sold for €125 (about US$197 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SAINT EMPIRE, Léopold V, archiduc (1619-1632), AR Taler, 1623, Ensisheim. Au titre de landgrave d'Alsace. Droit: B. à droite. La date sous le buste. Revers: Ecu couronné. Léger défaut de flan sur la tranche. presque Très Beau. (Austria, archduke Leopold V (1619-32), Ensisheim mint, in the name of the landgrave of Alsace. Obverse: bust to right, date below; reverse: crowned arms. Minor rim defect, about very fine.)"
