Jean Elsen sale 141, lot 678
Liege in 1547; the Abbey of Stavelot is visible between Limburg and Salm

This specimen was lot 678 in Jean Elsen sale 141 (Brussels, June 2019), where it sold for €320 (about US$424 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"STAVELOT, Abbaye, Christophe de Manderscheid (1546-1576), AR demi-rixdaler, 1570, Poulseur. Au titre de Maximilien II. D/ Ecu de l'abbé sous un heaume. R/ B. cour. et cuir. de l'empereur à d., ten. un sceptre et le gl. cr. Rare. Très Beau/Beau à Très Beau. (abbey of Stavelot, Christophe de Manderscheid, 1546-76, silver half rixdaler of 1570, Poulseur mint, struck in the name of Maximilian II. Obverse: arms of the abbot below a helmet; reverse: crowned and armored bust of the emperor holding a scepter and an orb. Rare, Very Fine/Fine - Very Fine.)"
