This specimen was lot 697 in Stephen Album sale 39 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "QAJAR: Muhammad Shah, 1837-1848, AV toman, Rasht, AH1253, off-center strike, some flatness at the margins, first series, struck to the heavier standard, reduced to 3.45 g in AH1255, VF-EF, R." This "type S" toman was struck AH 1255-1262 at Rasht (shown here) and Mashhad, Isfahan, Shiraz, Tabriz and Tehran.
