The specimen shown is a type struck in Chile 1960-71. It was the only issue of this subdivision of the escudo and is worthless in all grades. The escudo superseded the peso in 1960, with one escudo = 1000 pesos.
Recorded mintage: 13,200,000 plus proofs.
Specification: 4.12 g, aluminum-bronze, 23.3 mm diameter.
