Republica dos Estados Unidos do Brazil. 500 Reis, E.3A (1893). P-1b. Serie 131A. A bright note with only minor handling and a single vertical fold. Choice Extremely Fine."

This note was lot 6112 in Ponterio sale 151 (Baltimore, November 2009), where it sold for $1,265. The catalog description noted, "BRAZIL. 2 Mil Reis, ND (1900). P-11. Estampa 9A. Serie 33A. A scarce note shown with the purple and multi-color under print which under lays a very ornate design. UNCIRCULATED."

This note was lot 8029 in Ponterio sale 150 (Los Angeles, August 2009), where it sold for $1322.50. The catalog description noted, "BRAZIL. 500 Mil Reis, 18.12.1926. P-108. Truly a beautiful note with a lovely young women portrayed at the center and vivid multi-colored under prints. The reverse is the most prominent part of the note with the vignette showing an amazingly detailed naval battle in a brilliant blue ink. This specimen will surely grab the attention of knowledgeable bidders. UNCIRCULATED."

The cruziero replaced the réis in 1942. This five cruzieros is from the second series ("Estampa 2A") of 1962-63. It has signature combination 11 (Reginaldo Nunes and Walter Salles), dating it to 1962. It was printed by Thomas De La Rue and has catalog number Pick 176a. It is worthless in all grades.
