Steve Album sale 30, lot 1424
Sweden SA30-1424r.jpg

This specimen was lot 1424 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN: Gustav III, 1771-1792, AR 2/3 riksdaler, 1778, initials OL, small reverse rim nick, light marks, toned, VF-EF, Ex Dr. John Lund Collection." This denomination was introduced in 1776 to replace the four mark last minted in 1754. It must not have been a success, as this type was struck 1778-80 and then no more. The one-third riksdaler (KM 525) is much more common.

Recorded mintage: 43,000.

Specification: 19.50 g, 0.878 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM-526, SM57.
