The specimen shown is from a type struck for Guatemala 1950-59. Despite the limited mintage, the coin is not expensive tho a challenge to find in nice condition. Guatemala still issues twenty-five centavo pieces with the head of a Mayan woman (see KM 263, 268, 269, 272, 278) but the alloy was changed to copper-nickel in 1965, same as the United States.
Recorded mintage: 257,000.
Specification: 8.33 g, .720 fine silver, reeded edge, 27 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM 258.
