Sincona sale 83, lot 2631

This specimen was lot 2631 in Sincona sale 83 (Zurich, May 2023), where it sold for 3,500 CHF (about US$4,684 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Schlesien, Dukat 1635 HR, Breslau. Münzmeister Hans Rydell (Rieger). Selten. Fast vorzüglich. Leicht gewellt (Rare, About extremely fine, Slightly wavy flan)." This ducat was struck 1634-35 by the Protestant estates of Silesia, not the bishop, the duke or the emperor. It was accompanied by a thaler (Dav-3172). Neither are listed in the SCWC. The emperor also had ducats struck at Breslau in 1635 (KM 309).
