The first specimen was part of lot 23011 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), which sold for $546.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Modern Grouping of 18 High Grade Decimals, 1 Centavo to 1 Peso examples. Many AU and UNC. A lot to be carefully examined." This specimen is a slightly scarce date of a series struck 1905-49 at the Mexico City mint. As such, the type had the longest run of any coin type in twentieth century Mexico. In 1950, the centavo was downsized and changed to brass (KM 417) in which form it was issued until 1973, long after it had ceased to have any purchasing power.

Recorded mintage: 8,700,000.

Specification: 3 g, bronze, 20 mm diameter, plain edge.

Catalog reference: KM 415.
