Regensburg 1764 heller rev JK.jpg

This specimen is one of a type struck in large numbers 1709-93. The SCWC lists this coin as copper but judging from the color of this example, billon (low grade silver) seems more likely. The city of Regensburg issued a variety of silver thalers, all with the portrait of the current Emperor. The city was annexed to Bavaria in 1810.

Recorded mintage: 1,152,000.

Specification: listed as copper but more likely billon.

Catalog reference: KM 237.
