from the Mountain Groan Collection

The specimen shown is an example of a type struck in Bern, Switzerland, starting in 1879. Despite the numbing monotony of Swiss coinage (some designs have been struck for 150 years without change), collectors pursue this design by date.

Recorded mintage: 40,033,000 plus 11,000 proofs (common in all grades).

Specification: 3 g, copper-nickel, 19.1 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 27.
