This specimen was lot 2154 in Goldberg sale 128 (Los Angeles, June 2022), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "Russia. USSR Spitzbergen 50 Kopecks, 1946. Smaller star below date; legend around. Reverse: Value; legend. PCGS graded MS-61." This token was issued for use in the Russian concession on Spitzbergen (also known in Norwegian as Svalbard). Ten, fifteen and twenty kopek tokens were also issued in 1946. This type exists in small and large star varieties; the SCWC prices them the same.
