This specimen was lot 977 in Stack's Coin Galleries sale (New York, December 2009), where it sold for $201.25. The catalog description noted, "PANAMA. Republic. 1/4 Balboa, 1931. National arms. Rv. Armored bust. Satiny champagne surfaces. EF-45 (NGC)." This date is the key of the type struck 1930-47. It is not expensive in low grade but ascends rapidly in price with grade. It was struck in the United States using quarter dollar blanks.

Recorded mintage: 48,000.

Specification: 6.25 g, .900 fine silver, .180 troy oz ASW, 24.25 mm diameter, reeded edge.
