This specimen was lot 31176 in Heritage auction 3096 (Dallas, TX, March 2021), where it sold for $2,640. The catalog description[1] noted, "South Africa: Republic gold Proof "75th Parliament Anniversary" Ounce 1985 PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC, Pretoria mint. Struck to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Parliament and depicting a lovely, frosted architectural scene. From the Paramount Collection." South Africa, after a turbulent history between English and Dutch settlers and the native population, was constituted the Union of South Africa in 1910. Coinage commenced in 1923. This commemorative honors the parliament building in Cape Town.
