This type was produced at four mints (Munich, Stuttgart, Karlsruhe and Hamburg) in 1979-93. This two mark honored Kurt Schumacher; other Germans honored on the two mark included Ludwig Erhard, Max Planck and Konrad Adenauer. The Stuttgart mint mark was "F". The denomination was retired in 2002 with the coming of the euro.

Recorded mintage: 6,750,000 + 45,000 proofs.

Specification: 7 g, copper-nickel plated nickel, 26.75 mm diameter, lettered edge.
