Stack's Bowers September 2025 ANA sale, lot 43415

This specimen was lot 43415 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Empire. Quart de Franc (1/4 Franc), 1807-U. Turin Mint. Napoleon I. PCGS AU-55. The finer of just four observed in the PCGS census, this near-Mint specimen features deep toning and some flashy brilliance in the pullaway areas. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from A. H. Baldwin's in London on 17 February 1992 for $350)." This is a scarce date of a type struck 1806-07 at six mints. The Turin mint in Italy struck coinage of French design from year 12 to 1813.

Recorded mintage: 13,385.

Specifications: 1.25 g, 0.900 fine silver, 15 mm diameter, designed by Pierre Joseph Tiolier (1763-1819).
