Revision as of 00:20, 14 August 2023 by LatinKing2020 (talk | contribs) (Text replacement - " .986 fine gold" to " 0.986 fine gold")
This specimen was lot 2429 in Sincona sale 20 (Zurich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 5,000 (about US$6,266 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Halber Bankportugalöser zu 5 Dukaten 1679. Auf den Pinneberger Interims-Rezess. Vorzüglich. (extremely fine.)" This five ducat piece commemorates a long forgotten and quickly violated peace treaty. It may actually be a medal as it is not listed in Friedberg or the SCWC.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 17.5 g, 0.986 fine gold, .554 troy oz AGW; this specimen is 17.30 g.
