This specimen was lot 76491 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $85. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN. Qajar Dynasty. Rial, AH 1231 (1815/16). Isfahan Mint. Fath 'Ali Shah. NGC AU-58. Displaying resolute brillian[ce], with sharp allure and only limited signs of circulation. Impressive and deserving of many excited bids." This specimen was offered again as lot 75657 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $125. The Isfahan mint struck this "type C" rial AH 1223-1227, one of 17 mints to do so.
