This specimen was lot 37422 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $125. The catalog description[1] noted, "SCOTLAND. 1/2 Merk, ND (1636). Edinburgh Mint. Charles I. PCGS Genuine--Damage, Fine Details. Second Coinage. Briot's hammered issue. From the Richard August Collection." Half a merk was one third of a Scottish pound or eighty pence.
