British Caribbean Territories 1960 cent
This specimen was lot 1733 in Stephen Album sale 41 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2021), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH CARRIBEAN TERRIRORIES: 1 cent 1960, deep blue toning, NGC graded PF64 BR, R." The British Caribbean Territories was a union of nations in the Caribbean, all formerly possessions of Great Britain. In 1950 they formed a currency board to provide member countries with a unified currency to replace the British pound. Member states were Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, British Guiana, British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, St. Kitts & Nevis, Antigua, Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The union dissolved in 1965 but some member states reformed as the East Caribbean States. This type was struck 1955-65 and all the dates are common altho the proofs are scarce.
